Jankovich Logos

March 28, 2009 by Brooke | Case Studies | No comments

We were contracted to build three logos for Richard Jankovich, a talented musician in Los Angeles. With three unique outlets for his musical abilities, he needed to unify them into a single brand while allowing each of the three to remain unique.

Richard’s three projects all relate to music. Burnside Project is the electro-pop band he leads, Pocket is the name by which he does remixes (and now a collection of original singles), and B(r)ands is the name he chose to represent his other passion and day job: music branding.

What was important, he told us, was that the logos represented each entity well but were not too “safe.” He liked a minimalist approach but felt that his brand required an edgier visual representation.

When we presented the first round of comps, Richard shook his head. The concepts were good, he said, but they were too cartoony and still too…safe.

Round 2

After learning more about what Richard meant by this, we built and presented the second round of comps. This time, he loved them!

We made a few minor tweaks to one of the logos before finalizing them and handing them off to Richard and beginning the next step: a redesign of his Pocket website.
